Tips:
Travel -
If possible, please get an OMNIA Rome & Vatican Pass. Here is the link to the website: https://www.romeandvaticanpass.com/what-you-get/
We got it, I must tell you it's worth the money. If you are in Rome for 3-4days then this is really the card you would need. The package includes Omnia Card and Roma Pass both. So you would get the Free entry to Vatican City Museums & Sights, Free entry to Rome Attractions, Fast Track Entry at busiest Attractions, as well as Free Sightseeing Hop on Hop off Bus Tour of Rome, and Free Travel card for Rome with unlimited travel on pubic transport system including Metro trains and buses. You can also only choose Roma pass. Here is the link to it for details: http://www.romapass.it/
You would need to buy it online, and collect it from one of the offices/collection centers as described in the site. We collected it from the office in front of the square of St. Peter's Basilica. As soon as you scan the barcode of the card in any of the museums or swipe it in any public transportation it would be activated. We advise you to first activate the Omnia Pass along with the entry to Vatican Museum, then activate your Roma Pass later on when you get on any public transport.
With the Omnia and Roma pass, you would get fast track entry or free entry to any of the museum or tourist places of your choice, but you must specify the timing or book the slot of your arrival beforehand. The popular tourist attractions like Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican City, etc. are sold out quickly. Because these are historic sites, so they can only accommodate entry to a specific number of tourists because of preservation and security reasons. Hence you must pre-book your timings prior to your arrival to Rome. You will also find guided tours hawkers offering you tickets for the entry but they could come a bit pricey than the actual tickets.
Public transportation in Rome can be bit troublesome for you. We struggled a little bit to find a ticket vendor for buses as they don't provide tickets on spot inside the bus. Buses are very crowded because of the popularity of the place, many tourists. Metro tickets are readily available from the ticket machines on the station. But for other tickets, you need to find shops called 'Tabacchi', where you can buy any tickets/travel pass. If found without a valid ticket in public transport, you would have to pay a huge amount on fine. So please be cautious of it.
Food -
Cheese, pizza, pasta, Gelato, Supli!! Delicious Italian Food!!! yummm...
Clothes -
If you are traveling in between July-August, This is the summertime here in Rome. So it would be hot. You can wear light, but please be careful when you enter a religious place like Churches/Chapels. You would see notices saying tourists wearing short clothes are not allowed. It is disrespectful to enter wearing sleeveless and above knee attires. Carry a scarf or sarong of a spare shirt to cover up temporarily before you enter and then you can remove afterward once you are out of the place.

I hope I share almost enough to help you out on your trip, Happy traveling! :)
